It's been eons since I last wrote a poem, but here goes...

Ghost of the Past

Stay back, I say
Take not a single step closer.
The door's wedged tightly shut
Oh, can't you simply see?
You're not welcomed here.

Go home, I say
'tis no place for a ghost,
'tis a place of the present living.
So turn around now and hasten your steps
Return to where you should belong.

Quit it, I say
Stop fanning the flames, cease everything.
Oh, ghost of the past,
let go of me and leave me be
Just leave me be...

I was working on my math assignment halfway when I found myself stuck at a question. I stared at my paper for awhile, but my mind soon wandered off. My gaze flickered to the computer screen and lingered there for a few moments. Unconsciously my thoughts drifted to where I'd shoved and dumped all unpleasant memories, and well, I just had to pen something down. Oh, ghost of the past, when will you finally leave me be...?
